When will I know if I’ve got a place on the course?
We endeavour to send out letters one month prior to the course. In some cases, where numbers are low, or courses are organised at short notice, a later decision may be made. However, all applicants should receive no less than 10 working days notification of their place. The following information will be provided prior to the course:
- confirmation of a place on the course;
- a map of the venue, where necessary;
- a programme and pre-course material, if appropriate.
If you have booked on a course but have not received confirmation by ten working days before the course is due to be delivered, please contact the relevant Course Administration Team (see Help & Support section for contacts).
Every effort is made to continue with published activities. However, when less than 24 hours notice is given of a cancellation, e.g. where tutors are unavailable, schools will be reimbursed for any reasonable costs they have incurred.
You should be aware that decisions to cancel courses are normally made 3 weeks before the course date. Therefore, you should apply as early as possible to avoid courses being cancelled. Late applications cause significant problems with the preparation of course materials and catering arrangements, often incurring additional expense.
What happens if a course is full?
If a course is full you will be placed on a waiting list in order of application date. If a place becomes available the first person on the waiting list will be contacted to ascertain whether they would like to take up the place. The process will continue until the space is filled.
Under no circumstances should anyone attend a course who has not received confirmation of their booking. Maximum numbers are set at a level that is dictated by health and safety, catering provisions, comfort of the delegates and quality of learning. In future, tutors will refuse entry to any person attending a course that has not booked a place and exceeds the maximum numbers.

All amendments to your booking must be notified to the Course Administration Team via email. Any requests for refunds will be dealt with at the discretion of the ISIS Management.
Chargeable Courses – A £35 charge will be made where notification of a cancellation is received in writing by ISIS up to ten full working days* before the start of the course. Withdrawals with less than 10 working days notice will require full payment of the course fee unless non-attendance is due to exceptional circumstances e.g. Ofsted inspection. If there is an amendment to the booking i.e. a change in delegate name within the same school/organisation, there will be no charge.
* For Suffolk County Council schools this is deemed to be during standard term times. For other organisations this equates to standard working says, e.g. a course scheduled for 03 September – SCC school notice would be required by 13 July whereas other organisations would provide this by 20 August.
Non Attendance – There will be a full charge for all delegates that do not attend the course where a booking has been confirmed in writing.
Non Chargeable Courses – A £35 charge will be levied where a delegate notifies ISIS in writing of their intention to cancel their place within 10 working days of the course date unless non-attendance is due to exceptional circumstances e.g. Ofsted inspection. If there is an amendment to the booking i.e. a change in delegate name within the same school/organisation, there will be no charge.
Course Charges for Schools and Suffolk County Council Employees
Suffolk County Council Maintained Schools:
The appropriate course fee (as determined by the school’s ISIS SLA option choice) will be debited, retrospectively, from the school’s budget by means of a journal transfer.

Suffolk County Council employees (not schools):
Colleagues from Suffolk County Council will be asked to quote their budget cost centre code on the online booking form. The relevant amount will then be journal transferred from that cost centre retrospectively.

Frequently Asked Questions
How will I know if my course is not running due to bad weather?
If severe weather warnings are issued for the relevant area, we reserve the right to cancel courses at short notice. Cancellations will be announced on Radio Suffolk. However, you can contact the venue or the course administrators on the number quoted on your joining instructions.
What happens about payment if the course is cancelled by ISIS?
If the course has to be cancelled due to unforeseen circumstances (for example, bad weather, or illness of the tutor), we will not charge for the cancelled date. We will, however, do our best to rearrange the course for a different date. If you have supply cover which is too late to cancel, we will fund that.
Who do I inform if I have a special requirement?
We want everybody to gain maximum benefit from the training opportunities provided. If you have any special needs or requirements, which might limit your involvement and you would like us to make special arrangements, please contact either the relevant Course Administration Team (see below) or the course tutor as soon as possible.
Where does the training take place?
We always try to use venues that provide a cost-effective, professional learning environment appropriate to the course being delivered.
What do I do if I am interested in running these programmes in my school / pyramid / cluster?
Many of the courses within this programme can be delivered in school to either one school or a group of schools. If you would like to discuss this possibility, please contact the course tutor concerned.
