Welcome to the Continuing Professional Development site from ISIS.

The Inclusive School Improvement Service offers schools a range of services including CPD. Our key priorities for the forthcoming terms are:

Turning the tide at KS2 – accelerating progress
Maintaining momentum at GCSE to continue to improve attainment and progress
Narrowing the gaps in attainment of underperforming groups of pupils and students

There are four key themes which we will focus on in all CPD:

Leadership
Tackling underperformance
Assessment for Learning and progression
Pedagogy

We have outlined under each of the four themes the expected impact of this range of CPD at school and classroom level. All teams across ISIS will be working with schools to ensure we support schools to achieve these outcomes.

Tackling Underperformance

Teachers know pupils well and regularly discuss progress and challenge them to do their best
Underperforming pupils and groups of pupils are identified and progress is kept under regular review

Assessment for learning and progression

Consistent and confident judgements based on robust evidence and use of tools such as APP
These judgements used to inform curriculum planning, personalised learning and tailored appropriate interventions
Next steps in learning are clearly understood by pupils, all staff, parents and carers
Leadership teams and Governing bodies will use assessment information to ensure all pupils make accelerated progress

Pedagogy

Teachers are aware of the range of fit for purpose pedagogies ensuring all pupils will experience a range of whole class, small group (guided), independent approaches to learning
Primary teachers have developed understanding skills and confidence in guided approaches to maths and literacy
Teachers understand the central importance of developing communication skills and Talk for Learning is evident in classrooms
Planning reinforces the development of key skills in Maths, English and ICT across the curriculum
Teachers use ICT routinely to enhance planning, teaching and independent learning
